AntiGravity Yoga combines Yoga with other forms of movement, such as dance, pilates and gymnastics, into a hybrid mind-body experience. Using a silk hammock, students are guided through a series of movements and Yoga sequences, flowing through each pose letting your breath guide you, creating a sense of mindfulness, playfullness, and excitement as you stretch out and open up both the body, mind, and heart. Antigravity Yoga is particularly good for the back and stretching out the spine, and some of its benefits include decreasing stress and anxiety, increasing strength and flexibility of muscles, as well as mobility of the joints. One of the main benefits of Antigravity however, is the inversions, which includes what is called a Zero-Gravity decompression of the spine, which both stretches out and re-aligns the vertebrae without strain, relieves pressure and hydrates vertebral disks, and refreshes the circulatory, lymphatic, and digestive systems. Also increases overall agility and kinaesthetic awareness, allows for advanced inversions and postures without back or neck compression, as well as an increased sense of presence, and mind-body awareness.
If you plan on coming to a class at one of our locations, a few things to know before you come are:
- Please wear a short or long sleave shirt, or something that covers your underarms, for both comfort and sanitary reasons.
- Please bring your own water bottle for hydration
- Please arrive 5-15 minutes early to get checked in and measured out in your hammock
During a typical one-on-one Sound Healing session, I like to combine both Sound Healing techniques, with the added benefits of Yoga, as both art forms are very much intertwined and compliment each other well. So in any given session, I usually start by guiding the client into various different Yoga poses, both on the floor as well as in the hammock, while at the same time going in and using various sound healing tools and techniques, such as toning, tuning forks, and singing bowls, on the client to create a much more holistic sense of healing and well being than previously experienced. Both Sound Healing and Yoga are very ancient art forms that have practiced for thousands of years, and Sound Healing especially has been used throughout history, in many different cultures both ancient and modern, around the world, to bring healing, connection, and peace to this planet and its people. Music afterall, is the only truly universal art that anyone from any culture can understand and feel connected to, which is why it is so healing on both a physical, mental-emotional, and spiritual level.
